Our nonprofit client is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant / Accounting Manager to manage core financial operations, maintain accurate fund accounting, and support grant compliance. Key Responsibilities
Financial Management & Nonprofit Accounting
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP and nonprofit accounting standards
- Manage the general ledger and track unrestricted, temporarily restricted, and permanently restricted net assets.
- Oversee fund accounting and ensure proper allocation of expenses across programs and grants.
- Lead month-end and year-end close processes.
- Support budget development and variance analysis.
Grant & Contract Oversight
- Track grant revenues and expenses to ensure funder compliance.
- Prepare grant reimbursement reports and financial submissions.
- Partner with program teams to monitor spending and timelines.
Day-to-Day Accounting Operations
- Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, and vendor relationships.
- Oversee payroll entries and liaise with payroll processors.
- Maintain fixed asset schedules and depreciation.
- Assist with preparation for the annual audit and Form 990.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 5-8+ years of progressive accounting experience (preferable in non-profit)
- Strong knowledge of fund accounting and grant tracking.
- Proficiency with nonprofit accounting systems (QuickBooks Nonprofit, Sage Intacct, Blackbaud, etc.).
